I honestly can't believe I saw this. What a small world.
I met Logan. She was on a busy corner, not panhandling, just standing there, looking lost.
I stopped and went to chat with her. She was really sweet, and had no business in that world. She didn't have edge, I could tell she had never been in real trouble. Her folks booted her over dope.
I drove to Big Lots, bought her some stuff, a towel, shampoo, socks, hand sanitizer, practical stuff. I got her a journal and a few colored gel pens.
I took it to her, made her promise to write, every day. Write anything, just a sentence, but something. She promised she would.
I asked her to please call her parents, just to say she is alive. She said she would, but was unconvincing.
I hope she finds her way out. It was a year ago, and I hadn't seen her since. No one belongs out there, doing that, but Logan struck me as especially out of place. She gave me a really nice hug when I said goodbye. She was so underweight. And just a rose among weeds. She has alot more swagger here, better dressed, but I can see the dope's effect. I am happy she is alive at this point, I really hope she gets it together, and goes home, if she can.

I remember these days of panhandling. I did this for over 2 yrs str8. I just like this young lady….did not leave the corner until i made atleast $150. That is a lil less than than i make now working 12 hr shifts at 20/hr. Lol crazy. 5 yrs clean. I think that is why i kept using bcuz i was making soo much panhandling. The time came for me to get clean b4 there was no coming back. I will b 45 this yr & i felt like if i did not get clean when i did i was not gonna make it out.
